When Do You Need A Registry Cleaner?
If your computer seems to be slower than it was when you first bought it, you’re not alone. This is a normal decrease in performance that happens to everyone. The problem is normally caused by programs that we install on our computer. These programs fill your computer’s registry with tons of junk.
Eventually this junk leads to aggravating problems like: slower internet and computer speeds; Windows errors; blue screens of death; computer crashes; and even data loss!
Fortunately, the solution is easier than you might expect. All you need is a good registry cleaner. The problem is finding one that will provide you with a significant performance increase.
When you’re looking for a quality registry cleaner to use, there are a number of factors you want to keep in mind.
Factors That Make A Good Registry Cleaner
- The number of errors the registry cleaner finds
- The percentage of those errors that it actually repairs
- Improvement in performance after the errors are repaired
- Program feature comparisons
- Ease of use
What it comes down to:
Most registry cleaners are pretty good, but that doesn’t mean that one doesn’t work better than the others. Registry Easy seems to always come out on top of all comparison tests. Registry Easy offers the most comprehensive suite of utilities and the best performance increase. It also tends to be the most compatible program, working on all Windows operating systems from Windows 98 to Windows 7.
Another great registry cleaner to look at is Registry Fix. It has a few fewer features than Registry Easy and doesn’t have quite the compatibility with all Windows systems, but it is nearly as good at cleaning up your system.
What is the Windows registry?
You may be wondering what the Windows registry is and why it can have such a huge impact on the speed of your computer. The registry stores all of the configuration information about your computer, including all of your programs. Every time you install or uninstall an application you clutter up the registry just a little bit more. Left unchecked, this will lead to greatly decreased performance and can cause your computer to crash. Most of the time when you hear about people losing data on their computer, it happened when their computer crashed.
The problem with the registry is it doesn’t have any method to clean itself, so it just keeps growing and growing. The bigger the registry is, the longer it takes for your computer to find anything in it. This of it like a recipe box. If you just have a few in there you can find any recipe almost instantly. But if you just keep stuffing more recipes in there, eventually it’s going to take you forever to find any one.
Some people think that they can speed up their computers by going in and making some edits to the registry on their own. While it’s possible to emulate what a registry cleaner does, if you type in just one character incorrectly you can render your computer unusable, so it’s really not recommended at all.
